Varsity Track and Field Provincial Champions!
For the third time in school history, the St. Paul’s Varsity track team stood on top of the podium as Provincial Champions. (Previous Provincial Titles: 2000, 2003). The team was led by Luc Deleau '17 who earned four Gold medals. Overall, our Varsity boys accumulated an incredible 82 team points to capture the championship. There were many highlights including Crusader wins in all three team-relays during the Provincial tournament. Results are summarized below.
For the first time in school history, the Cru also qualified three runners for the 100m and 200m finals.
The Junior Varisty boys had some great performance led by grade 9 leaper Robbie Gerstner ’20.
Congratulations to all members of the the team who competed hard over the three day meet and best of luck to seniors Luc Deleau, Brody Williams, and Shae Weekes, who will be attending University of Manitoba to compete in Track and Football next year. Many thanks to Jeff McMillan and Jarrod Stadnyk for their work in coaching Track & Field at St. Paul's!
From the Parent Guild: Volunteers Needed on June 27
Convocation will take place in the Multiplex at 1:00pm on Tuesday, 27 June. Afterwards, the SPHS Parent Guild will host a reception for the members of the Class of 2017 and their families in the Eddie Cass gym.
As we will be hosting approximately 600 guests, we are in need of 12–14 volunteers from 2:00pm onwards. We require assistance with simple tasks such as cutting and serving cake/dainties, replenishing fruit trays, making coffee, and cleaning up. We would be very appreciative if parents in Grades 9–11 would step up to help as Grade 12 parents deserve to enjoy the culmination of four years of hard work on the part of their sons.
If you are able to lend a hand, please contact Margaret Haugen or Krista Lamboo-Lewis with your availability. Remember, many hands make light work!

Congratulations to all rugby players, teams, and coaches on fine seasons, and in particular, to members of the Varsity White Team on winning the Provincial Championship last weekend. Many thanks to Jarrod Stadnyk and Casey Whitfield, and our many alumni coaches, for their support of the Crusader Rugby Program.
The Crusader Soccer team defeated Vincent Masi Collegiate 2–0 in Portage la Prairie last weekend to capture the Provincial title in Outdoor Soccer. Many thanks to Diane Samyn, Joanne Ramjug, and our volunteer coaches for their commitment to both indoor and outdoor soccer at St. Paul's.
This year’s beach volleyball teams entered two tournaments. The first one was the Provincial JV and Varsity tournament, which was held at Adrenaline Adventures. We had a total of 9 teams entered. Our best finish was in the Varsity division where 3 of the 5 teams finished in the top 8. The team of Mathieu Lavoie '17and Darian Picklyk '17 made it all the way to the final in a tournament with 300 teams registered. The second tournament we entered was the Grade 9 Junior High Challenge, which is a co-ed tournament. We had two teams, which included 3 girls from St. Mary’s Academy. The teams finished 5th and 2nd, with the team of Eric Loewen '20, Jacob DeBlaere '20, and Kelsey Smart making it all the way to the final. Overall, there were over 100 teams competing in the tournament.
Congratulations to all the players on their fine efforts!
