Thursday, 1: June Exemption NotificationsStudents will receive exemption reports at the end of the school day on Thursday, 1 June. Students earning multiple exemptions MAY be excused from attending review classes on Friday, 2 June through Tuesday, 6 June inclusive. Each student will receive an individualized report indicating numbers of earned exemptions and whether or not review day attendance is required. Note: there is an error in the Student Agenda book and on the School Calendar which incorrectly lists May 31 as the date for exemption notifications. The correct date of June 1 has been announced in school on multiple occasions. Students required to attend review classes will be in classes for full days as usual. Those excused from review days may choose to attend review classes in courses in which they are required to write exams. Warm Weather Dress Code remains in effect during review days and exams. Bing Crosby Speech Contest and Paul Herriot Spelling BeeCongratulations to all students who participated in the annual Bing Crosby Speech Contest and Paul Herriot Spelling Bee on Monday, 1 May. Student Council Spirit WeekOur Student Council has planned a final spirit week for the current school year. There are fun dress code days and activities planned for next week as indicated below. There will be four designated collection points throughout the school, with each one being assigned to a specific grade level. All students will need to report to the dress code booth between 8–8:30 am each morning to receive a dress code sticker and approval for their outfits. Students who do not have a sticker will be considered to be out of dress code. Lunch Activities Monday, 8 May: Student Council vs Staff Basketball Game The Student Council will face off against a team comprised of any willing staff or faculty member. Tuesday, 9 May: Frisbee target competition One player rep per MGM, the three individuals that get the most discs through the hoop in a certain amount of time will win points for their grade. Wednesday, 10 May: Scavenger hunt One player rep per MGM, 10-15 item scavenger hunt for students to complete on school grounds. The team that completes the hunt in first, second and third place will win points for their grade. Thursday, 11 May: Tug of War Tug of War amongst grades in the gym, one player rep per MGM to participate. Each participant will receive points that will be added to their grade level total. Students will only compete against students from their grade level. Friday, 12 May: Push-Up Competition 1 contestant per each MGM, contestants will be given a minute to do as many pushups as they can. The top three contestants will receive points for their grade. March for Life: Thursday, 11 May
On Thursday, 11 May, St. Paul’s students are invited to participate in the March for Life. This event is voluntary and regular classes will be occurring on this day. Students have been advised to speak with their religion teachers to pick up an information letter and permission slip if they wish to participate. The school is arranging bus transportation and supervision. Seats on the bus will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Student Council Election ResultsStudent Council Elections took place on Thursday, 20 April. Students have voted and our Student Council President and Vice President for the 2017–2018 school year will be Luke Maurice '18 and Mac Rice '18. Mission Week: Mary's MealsOur final Mission Drive this school year concludes on Monday, 24 April. Thank-you to all those students and families for their gracious support of Mary's Meals, an organization that operates school nutrition programs that support more than 1.2 Million children in 14 countries where poverty and hunger prevent children from receiving education. If you have not already done so, please consider making a donation to this initiative working to help solve global hunger. Canadian Battlefields TourDuring Spring Break, a group of students and staff from St. Paul's travelled to France and Belgium to tour Canadian battlefield memorials and to study World War I and II history. 1st Annual St. Paul's Hockey Classic: Sunday, 9 April![]() The St. Paul’s Hockey Classic is a charity event with the aim of raising money for the Bursary Fund. The event challenges current Grade 12 students and alumni to a hockey game. Alumni, students, parents, friends and anyone who enjoys hockey are welcome to attend. • Date: Sunday, April 9, 2017 • Time: 5:30pm to 7:30pm • Place: MTS Iceplex • Tickets: $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets are available by contacting Dylan Braun, at the Front Reception at St. Paul's, or at the MTS Iceplex on the day of the event. 2017 Student Council Opening Speeches: Monday, 10 AprilMonday, 10 April kicks off the election process for next year's Student Council. We will follow Schedule 2 and have an assembly in the afternoon to allow the President and Vice-President Candidates to introduce themselves and their platforms. The Opening Election Assembly is compulsory for grade 9–11 students. Grade 12 students who wish to vote must attend the assembly.
