Many thanks to all of our students who helped contribute to wonderful Open House/Information Evening on Wednesday, 18 January. Our students were excellent ambassadors for St Paul's serving as parking attendants, greeters, tour guides, speakers, and as helpers at several activities we offered. Thank-you also to the many wonderful parents who provided dainties, helped serve during our mixer, and who shared their experiences of what it means to be a St. Paul's parent. Our admission process continues into February and word of mouth is by far the best marketing tool we have for promoting St. Paul's High School. Please encourage friends to consider St. Paul's by sharing the links for requesting an application package and for participating in our Crusader for a Day Program.

Parent Retreat: The What and How of Prayer
“Prayer is a conversation. The essential activity of prayer springs naturally from our humanity. It is a matter of conversing with a very good friend….Prayer is conversation. If we can talk, we can pray…It is a matter of conversing with a very good friend.”
The Parent Guild’s Mission and Vision Committee would like to invite parents to our second retreat to share in your son’s Jesuit education experience. Prayer is the theme throughout the school this year. In keeping with the theme we have invited Fr. Soo to lead us in a retreat. Fr. Soo as part of his Jesuit formation taught at St. Pauls’ High School and after his ordination has spent time directing and teaching the spiritual exercises and formation.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled on the following dates:
Grade 9 and 10 Parents Information Evening: Monday, 27 February
Given the critical role of parents in their son’s education and formation, we believe it is important that parents understand what we are trying to accomplish at St. Paul’s in our education program. We believe that we can improve on the collaboration and partnership in educating your sons while they are at St. Paul’s High School. The meetings will also include information from the Counselling Department on the elective course selection process for the 2017–2018 school year. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Further details will be included in the next weekly update.
Grade 11 Parents Information Evening
An information evening is planned to explain the elective course selection process for the 2017–2018 school year. While the meeting is not mandatory, parents are strongly encouraged to attend given this is the final year prior to post-secondary studies. By attending this session, parents may help their sons make informed decisions with course selection for their Grade 12 year. Further details will be included in the next weekly update.
Information Evening / Open House
Help St. Paul's recruit students and families by letting others know about our Information Evening/Open House on Wednesday, 18 January. Current students are encouraged to attend as ambassadors of our school. We need assistance with school tours and to have students from various extracurricular programs to help promote our school and programs. Students should speak with Mr Watson or their program coach/moderator to volunteer.
School Day Changes
The last of the school day changes caused by the Provincial English Standards Test will take place on Monday and Tuesday. After Tuesday, we will resume our usual 6-day cycle.
Late Start: Thursday, 19 January
As all of our faculty and many students will be participating in our Information Evening the night before, we will have a late start on Thursday, 19 January. Period 1 begins at 9:20 am. Schedule 3 is in effect.
Early Dismissal: Friday, 20 January (Calendar Change)
We will follow Schedule 2 to facilitate a staff meeting. Period 6 ends at 2:25 pm. Winnipeg Transit has been notified of the early dismissal and a charter will be provided after dismissal time. Please note, this is a new addition to the school calendar.
